Artist Biography
Andrew Litton is a percussionist and photographer currently based in Boone, North Carolina where he is a senior undergraduate student at Appalachian State University and pursuing a degree in instrumental performance. He currently specializes in drum set playing and is interested in expanding his repertoire to include contemporary classical chamber music, solo percussion works, freely classical and jazz improvisation, session work, electroacoustic music, and “natural” music (composed music blended with real-life field recordings). He primarily is influenced by rock, pop and metal genres of music and drummers such as Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan, Bill Bruford, Martin Lopez, Philly Joe Jones, Jimmy Cobb, and Danny Carey. In terms of photography, he is interested primarily in renderings of beautiful moments in the natural world, and is influenced by an array of different Romantic, Impressionist, and Modernist artists such as Caspar David Friedrich, Claude Monet, Wassily Kandinsky, and Gustav Klimt. His teachers have included Dr. Robert Falvo, Dr. Brady Spitz, Dr. Diana Loomer, John Hogan, and Alfred Sergel IV. Through his work, he attempts to shed light on the importance of ecology to human surroundings and reminding us that we have a beautiful place to live together, if only we properly care and look after it. I hope you will join me on both of these long journeys.
